Christian Hosting
Clients regularly move to The GraceNet because their existing host was not what they expected or did not live up to their promises.

Here are some things to watch out for:

Do they offer “HUGE” amounts of space for just a few dollars per month?
This is a common ploy of newer hosting companies. They try to offer an abnormally large site for ridiculously low cost in order to build a starting client base and take business from more established stable firms.

These firms rarely survive and end up offering low quality hosting and incomplete feature lists. When they close, it is usually without warning!

Are they less than 5 years old?
Many new hosting firms think they can get in on the growing number of web sites and many give it a good try but very few survive.

Most last only a year or so and only a small percentage are there after 5 years. What happens to all their clients?

The GraceNet is the oldest Christian Host in the world. We have been doing this for over 11 years and have more experience than any other host… ANY other host.

Are they part or a subsidiary of another company?
Some “Christian” web hosts are actually just a sideline of some other company. It could be a secular hosting company trying to get some of the Christian market or maybe a Christian business thinking they may as well make some money in hosting as well.

At The GraceNet, Christian Web Hosting is what we do now and is what we have been doing all along. Your web site is not some sideline to us.

Can you actually speak to a real person?
You will often find it hard to get in personal contact with a hosting company. Not so at The GraceNet. Instead of contact voicemail, you’ll find easy access to real human beings with a desire to help.

You can personally speak to our Billing and Technical departments via telephone and you can also reach our Support Staff 24 hours a day by Help Desk and email.

The turks do rock. I have no way of knowing, but I’ll bet you are not that great. Jannisary is a good unit. Halberd Hvy. INF. is also a strongpoint.

“While a tablet may be great for browsing the Web and viewing media, it’s too big to replace a phone and too limited to carry around as a work computer. People will need their keyboarded Netbooks and notebooks for real work. Tablets, like other tweener devices, ultramobile PCs and Netbooks, are accessories to real computers. You can’t do enough on them to justify the price, although they’re sure nice to have if you have extra money for a gizmo that sits between your big computer and your phone, both in size and function.

So as an accessory, tablets are too expensive. If Apple releases a tablet in the rumored $700 to $800 price range, it will die. Not because people won’t love it and lust for it, but because they won’t be able to justify it.

I actually have higher hopes for the Crunchpad due to its Web focus and its lower price. But even then, at the rumored $400 price point, I still believe it’s too dear for real human beings on a real budget, and it will reportedly lack local resources (storage) to make it a workable solution in a world of spotty connectivity”

When I was young and foolish (I'm only one of those two things now) I befriended a 62-year-old paranoid psychotic homeless Filipina retired professor. I abondoned that particular experiment in do-goodism when she came after me with a pair of scissors one night in the local Gen-X cafe.

It was a terrfying experience. The people watching us were laughing so hard I was afriad someone was going to choke to death on a piece of biscotti.

“You seriously only eat 2,000 calories a day? Honestly, man, you must look like an ethiopian, or you don’t get off the couch a lot. Real human beings, who go out and have real activities, need a lot more than 2k calories a day.”

Possibly an acting assignment, with some clear deliverables including 360 degree feedback upon review after 3-6 months before permanence.

Who says technical knowledge is needed to manage – a good manager may simply know enough to trust their experts and not micro-manage, the people skills and financial accountability being more needed than the particulars of the job the subordinates are doing.

Hold interviews with more than just that person – others may surprise you with what they bring to the table regardless of the role you've seen them in at this job. Keep in mind that along with promotion from within comes responsibility for maybe some training or mentoring, and possibly some hassles from former colleagues now reporting to this one. Hiring from outside has its own challenges, especially if the one who was overlooked has to train their new superior in their job, so it's a balancing act and only you can answer which way would work better.
